    摘要:

    文化是主体身份的内在规约性,主体可以通过与文化的互动建构自己的身份。理雅各通过各种方法建立儒家思想与基督教义之间的联系,用基督教义来阐释、充实、拓展甚至代替儒家思想。理雅各英译《中庸》的目的是汲取儒家思想,以便更好地为传教服务;而当儒家思想与基督教义矛盾时,他会放弃儒家思想而坚持基督教义。文化在理雅各的翻译中无处不在,正是在文化冲突、文化协调、文化顺应与文化互鉴的翻译中,理雅各建构了自己的多种身份,推动了儒家思想与基督教义的互动与交流。中西文化差异悬殊,唯有相互比照,文明互鉴,才能取长补短,相互促进。文化交流需要妥善处理文化因素,化冲突为合作,为文化互鉴寻找对话的舞台,帮助中国文化真正走出去。

    Abstract:

    Culture is the internal convention of subject identity and the subject can construct his identity through interaction with culture. James Legge connected Confucianism and Christianity through various ways, explaining, enriching, and even replacing Confucianism with Christianity. James Legge’s purpose of translating Zhongyong into English was to absorb Confucian thoughts in order to better fulfill his mission of spreading Christianity in China. When Confucianism contradicted Christianity, he would choose to abandon Confucianism and stick to Christianity. Culture is ubiquitous in his translation which cultural conflict, cultural coordination, cultural adaptation and cultural interaction drove James Legge to construct his multiple identities, which promotes the interaction and exchange of Confucianism and Christian doctrine. Due to great differences between Chinese and Western cultures, only by comparing and mutual learning can both cultures draw from lessons, benefit and promote each other. Culture communication needs to properly deal with cultural factors, turn conflicts into cooperation, seek a stage of cultural dialogue, and transmit Chinese culture globally.
