Abstract:It is of great significance to study the professional development of young counselors from the perspective of national counselor competency contest. It is found that the national outstanding counselors are rather younger, both male and female; the early 3-5 years is a critical period for their career development and professional competence. In addition, factors such as specialized division of labor, the institutional environment and the external economic development level produce an impact on the improvement of young counselors’ professional competence. Therefore, it is necessary to reinforce the professional training and to enhance the professional identity of young counselors; classified training should aim to improve the core professional skills of young counselors; establishing a community of counselors to strengthen their professional competence and broaden their professional development path.
