Abstract:Based on Liu Miqing's stylistic theory, this paper is intended to explore Michael Berry's translation style from two aspects of Formal Markers and Non-Normal Markers with corpus. In other words, exploring similarities in the four English translations of Chinese literary works by Michael Berry. It is found that Michael Berry has his own distinct translation style, which is manifested as four features. Firstly, he prefers simple and common words in English translation; secondly, the words and sentences in his English translations are in full accordance with the characteristics of the novels written by English natives; thirdly, there is a rough sentence-for-sentence correspondence between his translations and the source Chinese texts whose long Chinese sentences split into shorter English sentences; lastly, the themes of the source Chinese literary works focus on national miserable life.
