Abstract:Based on leading theoretical models on intercultural competence, this study constructed a developmental framework for Chinese university students' intercultural competence, in which the dynamics of their intercultural competence are holistically presented in a three-dimensional model. The six core elements, namely cultural knowledge, language competence, communicative competence, intercultural awareness, intercultural affection and academic literacy, are further illustrated in its supporting two-dimensional plane model. These two organically integrated, these models reveal the framework and development of university students' intercultural competence from both macro and micro perspectives.
