Based on James Holmes’ descriptive-theoretical-applied translation studies model, this paper presents an interview with Professor Si who studies translation under the framework of Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL). He has explored feasible application of SFL to Translation Studies, constructed a translation quality assessment model which was applied to his translation practice of and translation criticism on various genres of texts including international news and academic discourses. In brief, this article expounds theoretical significance and application of Systemic Functional Linguistics to Translation Studies.
