It is very important to strengthen ecological civilization education in ideological and political education of colleges and universities under the background of “double carbon”. In order to better integrate ecological civilization education into ideological and political education in colleges and universities, it is necessary to constantly innovate educational ideas which includes three aspects: (1) combination of scientificity, principle and flexibility; (2) combination of innovation, diversity and vividness; (3) combination of dominance, initiative and inter-subjectivity. Only such innovative ideas can we highlight the effect of integration, further stimulate the ecological and environmental protection consciousness among teachers and students, enhance their ecological and environmental protection literacy, upgrade their ecological and environmental protection behavior, and ultimately contribute to constructing a modernization in which human beings and nature coexist harmoniously.
