Abstract:It is significant to strengthen the cultivation of university counselors’ team and to empower their academic career development, so that they can fulfill their duties earnestly and play a pivotal role in ideological and political education for students in the new era. However, due to the complex interplay of multiple dilemmas, the current situation of their academic career development is not optimistic. At the macro level, there is a serious asymmetry between the status of ideological work and academic research; at the meso level, the professional title structure of the team is unbalanced; at the micro level, the counselors do not have adequate internal drive for academic career development. Therefore, suggestions are made to improve conditions for counselors’ academic career development by higher informationization in colleges and universities; to improve the quantity and quality of counselors’ scientific research by stimulating their internal drive for academic development; to provide systematic support for counselors’ academic career development by constructing a training system; and to provide effective incentives for counselors’ academic career development by establishing an evaluation and assessment system.
