Abstract:With CiteSpace V, the international research papers on multimodal translation published in SSCI and A&HCI journals in Web of Science during 2000-2022 are analyzed and visualized with maps. Through analysis of author and institutional co-occurrence, keyword settlement, timeline, etc., this paper finds that the hot spot of international multimodal translation research lies in audiovisual translation, and that the research evolved from the conceptual to theoretical development of multimodal translation. However, a few shortcomings in the research need to be overcome. Three suggestions are proposed for further research: 1) cross-regional cooperative research, 2) interdisciplinary paradigm, 3) analysis of special cases. It hopes that this paper will provide a reference for future multimodal translation research.
