Abstract:Teaching materials are the main resources for moral education in college English teaching. The present study focuses on the adaptation of English major’s teaching materials to promote moral value education. Two rounds of action research were conducted to explore the construction of an English major teaching material adaptation model for moral value education, which may foster value shaping, knowledge learning and competency enhancement. The results show that in comparison with a teacher-centered adaptation model which emphasizes input enhancement, a teacher-guided and student-centered adaptation model which integrates learning with practicing is more conducive to improving students’ sense of achievements and fulfilling the ultimate mission of moral education and talent cultivation. It is expected that the present study will offer some practical insights into the classroom adaptation of teaching materials.
