Abstract:With imprints of local identity in various times, culture-loaded words represent the national history, culture, regional characteristics and folk customs. And eco-translatology provides guidance of adaptation and selection for translators at the operational level which can help them with translation of culture-loaded words. Based on the theory of eco-translatology and the English translation of The Everlasting Regret by Xu Yuanchong, the paper analyzes the translation strategies of culture-loaded words in terms of language, culture and communication. It is found that the translator adapted to the ecological environment of the original text in his translation of culture-loaded words, and his translation strategies reflect his selection and adaptation in multiple dimensions. As a result, the Chinese source language survives and regenerates in the ecological environment of the English target language, introducing fine traditional Chinese culture to the world.
