Abstract:The emergence and rapid development of generative AIT have accelerated the digital transformation in education. In this context, FL teachers must improve their digital literacy (DL) and digital teaching competence (DTC), but how to effectively improve teachers’ DL and build their DTC is key to implementing an effective digital foreign language teaching paradigm. Therefore, it is necessary to elaborate and analyse the following three aspects to explore this issue: the requirements for teachers’ teaching competence(TTC) in the computer-based foreign language education, the policy orientation on TTC at the national level, and the elements of constructing and developing teachers’ DTC. Based on the discussion over these three aspects, specific strategies, requirements and suggestions on how to develop and construct teachers’ DTC are proposed at the national level, the school level and the individual level.
