The Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) emphasized that Chinese modernization inevitably requires the integrated urban and rural development, in which the United Front should play an indispensable role as an important magic power to unite all forces in CPC. On the whole, the United Front’s performance is guided by Marxist proletarian party theory, deeply rooted in the exploration and practice of CPC since its birth, and is essentially related to the essential internal requirements of urban-rural integration development in the new era. In the current process of urban-rural integration , it is necessary for the United Front to promote political integration by improving grass-roots deliberative democracy, accelerate economic integration by supporting the non-public economy, and enhance ideological integration by gaining the broad consensus on integrated urban-rural development. To achieve these objectives, the United Front needs to uphold CPC’s, leadership over the urban and rural united front, widely unite people from all walks of life to promote urban and rural economic development, and build digital platforms for expanding the pattern of urban and rural united front.
