Taijiquan classics include the essence of Taijiquan theories. However, their translation has some misinterpretations due to misunderstandings and inconsistent rendering of core cultural concepts, which impedes the development of Taijiquan discourse system. This study investigates translation strategies, methods, and skills for the translation of Taijiquan classics from the perspective of translation ethics. Taking the English translation of Exposition of Insights into the Thirteen Postures as an example, we find that: 1) the core cultural concepts should follow the ethics of difference with a foreignizing translation strategy to preserve Taijiquan’s unique cultural connotations; 2) the complex and complicated content should uphold the ethics of communication with an interpretative approach to ensure correct understanding; and 3) the rhetorical features should abide by the ethics of representation with literal translation to maintain the original text’s style and implied meaning.
