Abstract:As an important carrier of intercultural contents, college English textbooks are essential for students’ understanding of world civilizations and their intercultural communication competence; meanwhile, they should also foster students’ capability of explaining excellent Chinese culture. Since there remains certain puzzles about the connotations of excellent Chinese culture and its modes of representation, this paper defines the connotations of excellent Chinese culture, clarifies its types, dimensions, and themes. And then, it explores the representational framework of Chinese culture in college English textbooks from the cultural ecology perspective. In combination with the empowerment of AI, the paper finally discusses the implications for college English teaching, research, and social service.
